The KG kids sit on cement blocks and use piled-up blocks as desks.
This is the condition in which pupils of Amenam Local Authority Primary and Junior High School study, hoping that the education they receive here will ensure a better future for them.
Amenam is a farming community in the Eastern Region, about 25km from Nkawkaw.
The six-block class room is built of clay. Part of the roof has been ripped off; the effects of severe weather. Inside the classrooms, there are just about a few broken desks.

Even pupils in the Kindergarten department between 3-5 years, do not have seats at all. They have to carry kitchen stools to school in order to study.
Those who cannot afford the kitchen stools sit and write on pile-up cement blocks.

A teacher of the school, Mr. Francis Amanor acknowledged that the situation is frustrating for the teachers as they watch the children, especially, those in Kindergarten struggle to sit and learn.
